Portugal launches a new Digital Nomad visa

Portugal just released the requirements for its highly anticipated "digital nomad visa."

This new visa category allows remote workers who make four times the country’s national minimum wage (which translates to about $2,750/month) to apply for either a temporary-stay visa of up to one year, or for a residency permit that can be renewed for up to five years.

This offers a new, simple and basically free way to gain residency and travel rights within the Schengen area that can potentially concern a large number of people.

Applications, which open on October 30, will require proof of income for the past three months, tax-residency documents (such as previous tax returns) and a contract of employment or proof of self-employment.
